Virtual Memorial Tribute to the forgotten X-15 Astronaut (GCJHQ1) was hidden on July 21, 2004 by Geo GunSlinger and is located 14.9 miles South of Ridgecrest. It has a D/T combo of 1.0/3.0 and is a Virtual size. It currently has 59 favorite points.

It is a memorial to Major Michael Adams, USAF and his High performance X-15 aircraft which came to rest here in November of 1967.


Virtual Mining Randsburg (GC1B42) was hidden on September 4, 2001 by Danadesertracer & Bad-Bob and is located 17.7 miles South of Ridgecrest in Randsurg. It has a D/T combo of 1.0/1.0 and is a Virtual size. It currently has 55 favorite points.

Randburg is a modern day living ghost town. This town offers a look back to the history of the gold rush. If you get a chance, stop into the Randsburg General Store and have a malt at the 100+ year old soda fountain.

Challenge Caches in the Area

People love finding Challenge caches such as finding 100 caches with Food in them, or find a Geocache in 5 states. We don't dissappoint! Below is a list of challenges caches within 25 miles. We have also included the requirements you need to meet the challenge.

Unknown Colorful Crayolas Challenge (GC33T5D) was hidden on September 7, 2011 by Sissyta. It is located in Ridgecrest. It has a D/T combo of 4.0/1.5 and is a Small size.

To qualify for this challenge you have to find 50 caches with names of colors in them. Only 10 of the 50 can be embedded in a larger word (ie. Blue; "Singing Bluebird"). The other 40 must have the name as a stand-alone word in the name of the cache. In addition, your list must include 5 different types of caches (ex. traditional, earthcache, unknown, virtual, web, etc.). General terms such as color, hue, shade, etc. do not count but shades of a color do count (rose, rust, sand, lime, etc.). Your fifty caches must contain color names in the title. Duplicate items on your list are OK - no need to have 50 unique ones

Unknown Challenge of the Century: Cachers Like to Eat (GC33T4X) was hidden on September 7, 2011 by Sissyta. It is located in Ridgecrest. It has a D/T combo of 4.5/1.5 and is a Micro size.

To qualify for this challenge you have to find a Find 100 caches with names of food or drink in them. Only 15 of the 100 can be embedded in a larger word (ie. CORN "Around the CORNer"). The other 85 must have the name as a stand-alone word in the name of the cache. No 'meal' names, only food. No breakfast, lunch or dinner, etc. Duplicate items on your list are OK - no need to have 100 unique ones.


Unknown Ghost Town Alphabet Soup Challenge (GC341R0) was hidden on September 11, 2011 by Sissyta. It is located 17.7 miles South of Ridgecrest. It has a D/T combo of 2.5/1.5 and is a Small size.

To qualify for this challenge you have to find a cache beginning with each letter of the alphabet. This cache, since you haven't found it yet, it doesn't count - you will need another "G" cache.

Scenic Caches in the Area

Below is a list of the oldest caches within 25 miles that are in a unique location most people wouldn't have known about if it weren't for geocaching.

TraditionalResurrected (GC3ANVJ) was hidden on January 10, 2010 by Absolute_Mellow. It is located in Ridgecrest. It has a D/T combo of 1.5/2.0 and the size is Regular.

This cache was originally named "Trust me, I am your mechanic". It is near the BLM Wild Burro/Horses pens where you're welcome to visit with them and feed them some of the desert brush you find through the fence. Great photo op for those who love getting photobombed by an ass!


EarthcacheTrona Pinnacles (GC26901) was hidden on April 25, 2010 by SFVG2. It is located 10.0 miles South of Ridgecrest in Trona. It has a D/T combo of 2.0/2.0 and the size is Not Chosen.

This is a must cache for any film buff! The Trona Pinnacles are home to several sets of movies, television shows, commercials, music videos, etc. Searles Lake filled a few times as the glaciers of the Sierra Nevada melted at the end of the succession of recent glaciations. Calcium rich groundwater interacted with the briney water of the lake creating these calcium carbonate tufa towers.


TraditionalLucky Joshua (GC4E3FZ) is a Premium Members Only cache and was hidden on June 10, 2013 by tahoe_loren. It is located 12.1 miles Northwest of Ridgecrest outside of Inyokern. It has a D/T combo of 2.0/1.5 and the size is Micro.

The cache is here to bring you to this lucky joshua tree. Probably the most unique that you will ever find in this desert.


TraditionalPoison Canyon (GCAB91) was hidden on November 20, 2002 by CartoGeo. It is located 15.1 miles East of Ridgecrest in Trona. It has a D/T combo of 1.0/1.5 and the size is Regular.

A cache placed at one of the several painted animal rocks in the area.


TraditionalPink Lady in Red (GC53CWA) was hidden on April 24, 2014 by SFVG2. It is located 16.1 miles Northwest of Ridgecrest in Pearsonville. It has a D/T combo of 2.0/1.5 and the size is Micro.

Not only is the cache located inside a rare piece of Americana, people who have lived in the area all of their lives didn't even know the park behind it exsisted. It has playground equipment no longer allowed on playgrounds and is sure to bring back fond memories of fun in the sun and broken bones!


TraditionalTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Rock (GC5KWE0) was hidden on January 25, 2015 by Trail Blazer SCH-9. It is located 22.1 miles Northeast of Ridgecrest in Trona. It has a D/T combo of 2.0/2.0 and the size is Large.

this2shalpas placed a Little Free Library on her property and decided it needed a cache to go with it. Take a moment to pick a book and take it home with you. You don't have to leave a book or you can come back another time to leave a book.


TraditionalPetroglyph Lake Shark Sighting (GC6FTN1) is a Premium Members Only cache and was hidden on April 26, 2016 by CaptainFrankie & Tom with help from catsimmie. It is located in Ridgecrest. It has a D/T combo of 3.0/3.0 and the size is Other.

This cache was placed in honor of CaptainFrankie's once in a lifetime chance to visit the set of Sharknado 3. Like all bodies of water the time of day/season as well as weather wil determine the D/T of this cache. Some days it will be a 1/1, others a 5/5. So using the Geocache Rating System we gave it the 3/3 it recommended.


TraditionalParty @ ground zero (GC3D5K9) was hidden on February 23, 2012 by OGFA.Team. It is located in Ridgecrest. It has a D/T combo of 5.0/5.0 and the size is Not Chosen.

The closest 5/5 cache in the area. Climbing skills are required for this one. If you're concerned about safety, contact Scott ahead of time and he is usually more than happy to bring out his climbing and safety gear to help cachers reach the top!


TraditionalBriauna's Message (GC2X0NA) was hidden on May 7, 2011 by Ridgecrest Geocachers. It is located in Ridgecrest. It has a D/T combo of 1.5/1.5 and the size is Regular.

This cache is dedicated to Briauna Ceree Tavares 05/07/10 ~ 08/22/10 and was placed in honor of her at the request of her grandmother. She was born a healthy full term baby girl after surviving the loss of her twin at 15 weeks. She also survived the Rota-Virus, a dangerous disease, only to succumb to something that seemed so harmless. A slight fever, and slightly fussy, she was eating and sleeping well. By the time her symptoms became alarming, it was too late! At 15 weeks old, Briauna died of meningitis. The cache is located near her grandmother's property, and she will likely be the only muggle around!
